Frequently Asked Questions
The best seedlings for your property depend on factors like region, soil conditions, management goals, wildlife objectives, and long-term plans for the land. ArborGen Reforestation Advisors can help evaluate your property and recommend options aligned with your goals.
OP seedlings are developed through open pollination breeding programs using selected parent trees, while MCP® seedlings are developed through controlled pollination techniques designed to improve genetic precision and overall performance potential.
Both options are genetically improved, but MCP® seedlings are designed for customers focused on maximizing long-term stand performance and value.
Yes. Many hardwood species provide important food sources, cover, and habitat diversity for wildlife. Oaks, persimmon, pecan, and other specialty species are commonly used in wildlife-focused planting projects throughout the Southeast.
Bareroot seedlings are widely used for traditional winter planting and large-acreage projects, while containerized seedlings offer additional planting flexibility and root protection for certain site conditions and management strategies. The best option depends on your planting goals and property conditions.
Not at all. ArborGen works with landowners at every experience level – from first-time property owners to multi-generational forestry families. Our team is here to help simplify the process and provide guidance every step of the way.
